Where athleticism meets creativity

Why WightTricks?

Tricking is a modern movement discipline that brings together powerful kicks, flips, twists and acrobatic transitions.

Athletes develop these movements progressively before learning how to connect them into their own creative combinations. It builds strength, coordination, spatial awareness and confidence while giving every athlete the freedom to develop an individual style.

The progression is structured. The expression is individual.

One structured pathway

The same principles guide every athlete, at every level.

The people behind it

Built on 20 years of experience

The WightTricks programme has been developed over more than 20 years of coaching by Robbie Bates: tricker, Director, Head Coach, sports scientist and coach to world champions.

The programme is supported and delivered alongside Bowie Brennan, head coach and International Pro Team athlete, an exceptionally accomplished tricker, UK champion and high-placing athlete at the Hooked World Championships.

Together, they lead a coaching team that has developed athletes from their very first skills through to national, international and world-championship success. WightTricks athletes have become national, international and world champions on multiple occasions.

That experience shapes the entire academy - not only its highest-level athletes.

Whether someone is learning their first cartwheel or preparing for the world stage, they are supported by the same principles:

  • Strong foundations
  • Intelligent progression
  • Technical quality
  • Belief in the individual

The facility

Built for this sport, not adapted to it

A sprung floor, airfloor, trampoline, foam pit and specialist movement equipment give us the tools to teach skills in stages rather than in one attempt.

Inside the programme

What we develop

Technique

Tricking, tumbling and acrobatic technique taught in the right order.

Athleticism

Strength, coordination, flexibility and spatial awareness.

Safe progression

Skills introduced intelligently, with the right equipment and support.

Movement quality

Control, precision and genuine technical understanding.

Creativity

Connecting skills into transitions and combinations of their own.

Character

Confidence, resilience and an individual style worth owning.

We do not expect every athlete to move in exactly the same way. We help them build strong foundations, understand their movement and discover what they are capable of.

What makes WightTricks different?

It is not simply the equipment, the facility or the level of skill within the academy. It is the depth of experience behind the programme and the care taken with every athlete's development.

We teach impressive skills - but we also teach patience, confidence, creativity, discipline and the ability to keep progressing when something is difficult.

That is what a WightTricks membership represents.
